Lignotuber

A lignotuber is a bulge rich in Amidon which is formed on the roots or the underground Tige S of certain plants. One finds some in particular at certain species Australia of Eucalyptus, like the Jarrah S and the Mallee S, for which the lignotubers are an insurance of survival in the event of fire or predation by the animals. They are able to emit rejections starting from buds being born at surface of the lignotuber, phenomenon known under the name of Recépage.

The lignotubers belong active to the defense systems of the plants against the attacks. The cortical cells of the roots penetrated by the filaments ( hyphae ) of mushrooms can form lignotubers.
