Light music
One names light music (in English easy listening ) a type of music intended to create an environment, a background music, pleasant and not disturbing, without necessarily claiming to compete with the symphonic Musique. It should not however be confused with the Chamber music, which is characterized from symphonic only by one more reduced number of instruments.
The Radiodiffusion was a large consumer of light music until the arrival of the Pop music at the beginning of the Années 1960. The principal type-setter of light music diffused on the French waves was Roger Roger ( Volatiles , etc).

John Lennon was delivered, in its song How C you sleep? with the same judgment on the music of his/her former friend Paul McCartney of which it qualified the productions of Muzak (pejorative term to indicate the easy listening )
