Ligase

In Biochemistry, a ligase is a Enzyme which catalyzes the junction of two molecules (" ligation" or “to stick between them”) by news covalent bonds with concomitant Hydrolysis of ATP or other molecules similar. They are classified EC. 6 in the Classification EC..

Many a ligases is known under the name of “synthases” or “Synthétase S” considering which they synthesize of new molecules.

In the Laboratories of Molecular biology, the most used ligase is DNA ligase Phage T4. Is used it to inter-connect fragments of DNA.
