Lifting of Divatte
General presentation
The lifting of Divatte, long 15,8 km belongs to the Department of Loire-Atlantique and protect from the floods, a very fertile and very populated valley distributed on six communes gathered in a Communauté of Communes the Loire-Divatte: Barbechat, the Vault-Low-Sea, Landreau, Loroux-Bottereau, Remaudière and Saint-Julien-with-Concelles.
Following the many floods, the lifting of the Divatte was built in 1847 on the initiative of the communes of Saint-Julien-with-Concelles, of the Vault-Low-Sea and from Low-Goulaine, in order to fight against the risings of fleuve.
Constituée of sand, from covered and supported ground stones, it extends on about fifteen kilometers, from left bank of the river Divatte (side department of the Loire-Atlantique) and along southern bank of the the Loire.
Cette Digue allowed the wine growers and the market-gardeners to develop their cultures.
