Lift-off
see also: Etymology of Lift-off
The lift-off is a regime change of the advance of an object in water. One passes from a mode archimédien (the object floats by Poussée of Archimedes) to a dynamic mode where its speed enables him to be carried by water surface. Its appearance thus depends very strongly on the lower shape of the object, the careens, which can be studied to support it (Redan, planing hull) The lift-off is thus accompanied by a rise in the floating.
The lift-off is a phenomenon exploited by the Navires at high speed, and some sailing of race to some paces.
It is also essential in the phase of takeoff of a Hydravion.
