Life Guard
The regiment of the Life Guards is the oldest regiment of the British army. The regiment is attached to the Horse guards. The uniform comprises a red tunic, a white plumet. The horses carry chabraque (carpet of saddle) white for the soldiers, black for the officers.
Their mission is to ensure the protection of the Queen and the royal buildings. The building of Horse Guards, located on Whitehall at two steps of the residence of the Prime Minister is the general headquarter of the guard of the queen and he plays the part of official entry of the royal palace of Buckingham.
The regiment has also an operational role in the army. It provides detachments of escort to constitute the armor-plated assembled regiment.
