Belgium
In the maritime component of the Belgian armed forces, the rank of lieutenant commander is the first of the ranks of senior officer. Its badge is made up of three gallons. It corresponds to the rank of major in the components terrestrial, air and medical.
Canada
In the Navy of the Canadian Armed forces, the rank of Lieutenant commander exists since 1996 for the Cadre of the Instructors of Juniors and for all the navy since 1998. In the past, the name of the rank was Lieutenant-to order (which is the English term into force). This rank corresponds to that of Major in the army and the aviation of the Canadian Forces.
The abr. term is capc and one addresses oneself to him by saying " capitaine".
