Lieuron
Lieuron is a common French, located in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine and the area Brittany.
Etymology
Breton origin: the collection of the old forms since the XI° century makes it possible to perceive the evolution of the name of the village. By going up time, we find successively Ludron with the XI° century, Lurron in 1386, Leuron in 1426, Lieuron in XVI°siècle. This last C-W communication, according to Marc Déceneux, historian and specialist in the sacred art, reveals its primitive root; it is about old man-Breton the Ludre ( Leuzre into means-Breton), indicating a place marked by the presence of megaliths, follow-up of a diminutive suffix. No monument megalithic exists more around the village. The archaeological context lets however foresee a very old occupation of the place; the Roman Voie of Rennes with Rieux crossed the territory of Lieuron of the North-East to south-west, and two Gallo-Roman establishments (in Filiais and Plessis Anger) were detected by the prospectors. The village itself was, as of before 1338, the center of a parish, detached on an unknown date of the large primitive parish of Anast (today Moor-of-Brittany).
