Liet Kynes
Liet Kynes is a fictitious character of the cycle of Dune , of Frank Herbert.
Liet Kynes (10154-10191) is the son of Pardot Kynes, brother of fight of Stilgar, and the father of Chani, which will become the concubine of Paul Muad' Dib Atréides.
Biography
His/her father being already imperial planetologist of Shaddam IV, it is probably born on Dune. With died of his father, it takes again his station, and works towards the paternal end: to transform Dune into green and fertile planet. For that, it makes install in the Sietch and many other places, traps with wind in great number, recovering the moisture of the atmosphere. It Marie with a Fremen, and of their union will be born Chani, future concubine of Paul Atréides. It acquires a great reputation among the Fremen, which call it Liet , the inhabitants of Arrakeen and nonthe Fremen calling it Kynes .When the Maison Atréides arrives on Arrakis, he explains the operation to them of distill and is fascinated by ease and the naturalness with which Paul Atréides adapts to its new environment. He takes along the duke Leto and his son to observe the exploitation of spice, and begins to appreciate the family when the Duke gives up a reaping-machine of Épice to a Ver of sands to save the occupants of them.
At the time of the attack of Arrakeen by the Harkonnen, supported by the Sardaukars of the Emperor, it is captured, wounded, and given up in the desert with one distills defective. Becoming insane because of heat, it has hallucinations in which his/her father teaches the elementary bases of planetology to him. It crumbles on a pocket of Épice arrived at the critical point of maturity and dies in the bursting of the latter.
Its role is held by max von Sydow in the film Dune.
