Lidl

Lidl is a mark of the group of Hard German discount concurrent of its German compatriot Aldi.

The mark Lidl & Schwarz was created in the years 1970.

History

The birth of Lidl goes back to thirty years, when the company was founded in Souabe (Germany) as a Wholesale food, under name Lidl & Schwarz . Two large branches of activity were created thereafter: the discount stores of food products were taken again under the Lidl denomination, while signs like Kaufland and Handelshof gathered the department stores of self-service and the hypermarkets.

As a member of the Schwarz group, Lidl forms today part of Signal 10 of the German food retail business.

After the opening of the first subsidiary companies around Ludwigshafen in the Years 1970, Lidl continued its expansion in Germany until the end of the Années 1980 and launched out to the conquest of the international scene at the beginning of the Années 1990. Today, Lidl counts subsidiary companies in practically all the countries of Europe.

Concept

Like the majority of the signs of hardware-discount, Lidl is based on a concept minimalist to reduce the costs and to offer products at very low price. The set is tiny room to approximately 900 references, the system of delivery of the stores is particularly powerful, the trucks never not rolling to vacuum, the presentation of the products and the system of passage in case privileges the productivity. The search for performance also leads to a style of rather hard management which could induce social conflicts more and more.

Lidl Belgium

January 1st 1994, Lidl Belgium had established its offices with Ternat.

Lidl France

In 2008, the ensign Lidl France whose seat is with Strasbourg, will count approximately 1350 stores distributed out of 19 regional managements + 1 in construction currently (Rennes) + 2 others (Evils and Chambéry) built during the year 2008.
