Licq-Athérey

Licq-Athérey is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine. It belongs to the Basque province, the Soule ( Xiberoa in souletin, Zuberoa out of Basque " moderne" , the Batua).

Licq met with Atherey in 1843 to become Licq-Atherey.

Its name Basque is Ligi Atherei . Its inhabitants name the Ligiar , Athereiar out of Basque.

With the entry of the village of Licq water mixes with the gave of Larrau and Holy-Engrâce Uhartzia coming from to form the principal river of Drunk: the Season. The grounds of the commune are sprinkled by the Saison and its affluents:

History

It is in Licq which the famous bridge of the Lamiñak is whose legend says that it forever been able to be finished in time.

The commune is located on the way of the 16th stage of the Tour de France 2007 which will take place on July 25th. The course of 218 kilometers will connect Orthez to Gourette - Collar of Aubisque.
