Licancabur

The Licancabur is a Volcan of South America, at the border of the Chile and Bolivia close to the Laguna Verde. Its last eruption dates from the Holocène. Its crater shelters a lake, cold in winter, where living organisms were discovered in spite of the very unfavourable living conditions.

Very close to the volcano, in the west, is the pretty village Chile in San Pedro de Atacama.

The first rise was made in 1884 by Severo Titichoca. The easiest way of the rise is Bolivian side because the Chilean side is mined.
