Library François Mitterrand (subway of Paris)

Bibliothèque François Mitterrand is a station of the line 14 Métro of Paris. It is located near the site François Mitterrand of the National library of France, in the 13 {{E}} district of Paris.

The station

This station of the line 14 is in correspondence with the station of the RER C. In 2004, it was the seventh most attended station network, with 13,35 million entering direct.

Situation

The subway station is parallel to located the Rue of Tolbiac, under the railways coming from the Gare of Austerlitz.

Access

For the moment this station has four principal accesses (n° 1 to 4, access to the room of exchanges the RER C + line 14) giving access by an elevator and escalators to the street of Chevaleret, the avenue of France, the street Goscinny and the street Neuve Tolbiac.

A secondary access (direct access on the ways of the RER C) closed in evening and end of the week is located at the end of the avenue of France at the intersection of the street of the Large Mills (n°5).

History

Opened in 1998 at the same time as the line, the architecture of the station is the work of an architect different from the other stations of the line 14.

In the room of exchanges Subway - the RER, the steps of a staircase in arc of circle are engraved letters of different the writing S used by the Humanité. The exceptional volume of this room of exchange was made possible because the station was built and not dug.

Disseminated a little everywhere in the station, 180 medallions are engraved sentences reflecting the universality of the cultures.

Since end 2000, the station is in correspondence with the Gare of the Library François Mitterrand of the RER C.

It was until on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 with 1:30 the terminus of the line before the commercial startup of the Olympiades station is not made on June 26th with 5:00.

This station allows the service road of the district of Tolbiac between the the Seine and the ways of the station of Austerlitz: National library of France, seat of Rail network of France, cinemas MK2, etc

Starting from this station, it is possible to reach with foot via the street of Domrémy the Notre-Dame church of the Station on the place Jeanne d' Arc.
