The Club Libertad is a Paraguayan club of Football based with Asunción.
History
In 1905, political instability reigns with the Paraguay. A group of young men, arrived at Asunción by a boat named " Libertad" (Freedom), a revolution carries out reversing the government of Partido Colorado. These men belonged to the opposition party, Partido Liberal, emanation of Juan Manuel Sosa Escalada, which, with some friends, decided to create a club of sport named Club Libertad the 30 July 1905.
Since its first victory in Championship in 1910, Libertad was often eclipsed by the two other large Paraguayan clubs: the Olimpia Asuncion and Cerro Porteño, victorious of the majority of the titles. Despite everything, Libertad was affirmed like the third club of the country, with 11 titles, that is to say 2 of more than the Guaraní.
In 2006 Libertad is arivée until in semi-final of the Copa Libertadores, while losing against the future champion, the Internacional of Porto Alegre. The match with Asuncion finishes on a null and virgin score. But in Porto Alegre, Libertad multiplies the good occasions. But it Inter imposes themselves at the end of the match and qualifies themselves finally. Many journalists estimated that Libertad deserved to be qualified finally to face the São Paulo FC, champion in 2005 and victorious of the first edition of the World cup of the clubs (victory 1-0 against Liverpool). The libertad forever reached a final of continental competition.
