The liberal democratic Union (UDL) was a preserving political party South Korean of center-right, mainly established in the area of Chungcheong.

Having gained only 4 seats with the legislative elections of April 2004, its president Kim Jong-pil announced his withdrawal of the political life.

The majority of the members of Parliament of the UDL then decided to form a new party, the Parti the people initially (PPP). Only the deputy Kim Hak-won, then president of the Party, refused to join the PPP before announcing that the UDL joined the principal party of the conservative opposition, the Grand national party, on February 20th, 2006.
