Liber Historiae Francorum
Allotted a long time to Gregoire de Tours, this anonymous original work carries the title of Liber Historiae Francorum since the end of the 19th century.
It is the first franque historiographic narrative source not to go up, at the beginning of its account, the origins of the world. The author is perhaps laic of Neustrie. He writes under the reign of Thierry IV (721 - 737). In 53 chapters, it brings back the history of the Francs while borrowing initially from Gregoire de Tours, then while being shown more original. Information which it gives is particularly important for the knowledge of the 7th century. Work was more diffused with the Moyen-âge that the accounts of Gregoire de Tours or the chronicle of Frédégaire.
