Lhasa de Sela
Lhasa de Sela , more known under the name of scene Lhasa , is a singer américano - Mexican living with the Quebec. She sings of a serious and major voice and in the three languages of Americas: English, French and Spanish. Its mongrel music the tradition Mexican, the Klezmer and the Rock'n'roll.
Born in 1972 in Big Indian, NY with the the United States of a father, Mexican and of an American mother. His/her father is writer and Professor of Spanish while his/her mother is Photographe. During its childhood, it furrows the United States and Mexico on board a bus. At the 13 years age, Lhasa starts to sing jazz in the coffees of San Francisco. At 19 years she emigrates with Montreal and meets Yves Desrosiers with which she created in 1998 Llorona , album which is a great success (more than 400.000 albums sold in France and with the Canada).
Lhasa then joined in Europe the contemporary circus " Pocheros" , where his/her three sisters work. Then it is established with Marseilles where it writes part of its second album, on which it starts to work with Vincent Ségal and Cyril Atef of the group Bumcello.
Of return to Montreal in 2002, Lhasa finds the percussionnist François Lalonde and the pianist Jean Massicotte who go coréaliser and to arrange The Living Road .
