Alexandra L. Doig (born the June 8th 1973 with Toronto) is a Canadian actress known to have played the part of Rommie in the Televised series of science fiction Andromeda .
The physique of Doig comes to him from its origins - Irish and Scottish on the side of his/her father, Filipino of that of his/her mother. She was born and lived with Toronto, where its family dealt with the local theater; she became impassioned by the dramatic art at nine years, after having seen a representation of Porgy and Bess . At sixteen years, it was located by an agent. She then dropped the studies during her last year to continue a career of actress. She worked on representations of Romeo and Juliette and Arsenic and Old Lace while she auditioned for roles with the cinema and on television.
She had a small role in Invasion planet Ground of Gene Roddenberry.
Its first big role was in the series TekWar of William Shatner, in the role of the character “cowgirl”, a specialist in the rechreche of informations on the Internet. Doig recalls the moment when she heard of this role: “ I left absolutely convinced hearing that I had missed it, and then my agent invited me to say to me that I had obtained the role. I jumped everywhere in the house and I shouted with full lungs. I then knew that I had chosen the good trade and I never regretted it. ”
Alexandra played the part of Tina Backus in the series CI5: The New Professionals in 1998, and became famous with the role of the main character of the series Andromeda . More recently, it took part in films with larger budget, for example the first feminine role of Jason X (2001). Doig also turned several episodes of the ninth season of Stargate SG-1 , in the recurring role of the new doctor of the team, Carolyn Lam. She has also a role in the second season of the 4400 , where she incarnates professor Wendy Paulson.
When she does not work, Doig likes to read, make roller and to play video games RPG. His/her cousin is the actor Rey-Phillip Santos. The August 2nd 2003, it married his/her colleague Michael Shanks. They had a girl, Mia Tabitha, the September 13rd 2004. She was followed in March 2006 by another child, this time a boy baptized Samuel David. The family spends her time between Toronto and Vancouver, the center of Canadian cinema industry, with the project to move with Los Angeles in the near future.
