Beginnings
Born from a father originating in Grenade and from an English mother, Lewis Hamilton begin with the Karting at the 8 years age. In the turbulent groups of young pilots, it is quickly highlighted by its blow of wheel and gains at 9 years its first national championship, which is worth to him to be invited at the end of the year with the dinner of official reception organized by the British weekly magazine Autosport . On this occasion, the Lewis young person approaches Ron Dennis (the owner of the stable of Formule 1 McLaren) with his table, presents himself to him, and entrusts to him that he would like one day to control in Formula 1 for McLaren. Ron Dennis encourages it to persevere and promises to him to follow its career attentively. Three years later, Hamilton having confirmed that it is one of the most talented pilots of kart of his generation, Ron Dennis makes him sign a long-term contract and agrees to finance its career. In 2002, Hamilton carries out its beginnings in automobile sport in the British championship of Formule Renault, which it gains the following year. End 2003, it also disputes some races of the British championship of Formule 3. In 2004, it logically carries out its first complete season of Formula 3, but in the championship Euroseries. After a first promising season, it crushes the championship 2005, which is worth to him to pass in 2006 in GP2, where it replaces holding it of the title Nico Rosberg in the stable ART Grand Prix. From the start, Hamilton is affirmed like the strong man of the championship and dominates of the pilots more experienced than him. In spite of the return at the end of the season of Nelson Stake Jr, it grants the championship at the time of the last weekend.
First season at McLaren
Announced like one of future the stars of Formula 1, the Lewis Hamilton joined in 2007 the stable McLaren - Mercedes at the sides of Fernando Alonso.
As of his first Grand Prix, the young English confirms the hopes placed in him. In Australia, it finishes third behind Alonso, which doubled it only with the favor of the last supply, and after having punctually carried out the race. Then in Malaysia, it finishes second behind its fellow-member after having doubled both Ferrari at the beginning and resisted in an authoritative way the attacks of Felipe Massa in the first turns of race. Hamilton also finishes second, behind Felipe Massa, at the time of the third race of the season, with Sakhir for GP of Bahrain, confirming a remarkable constancy for a rookie and becoming in the history of Formula 1 the only beginner to have conquered three consecutive podiums for its first three races. At the conclusion of this race, it is third of the championship of the pilots, with equality of points with the Spaniard Fernando Alonso, the Finn Kimi Räikkönen and Brazilian Felipe Massa (all have 22 points). But it will still make better: after a new second place in Spain, it takes only the head of the championship before being caught up with by Fernando Alonso, winner with Monaco, in spite of a new second place obtained in the streets of the principality.
As of its sixth race, with GP of Canada, on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, it obtains the first pole position of its career, on the basis of the first line for the third time of the season. It concretizes this advantage the following day, at the end of an animated GP marked by the spectacular accident of Robert Kubica and four interventions of the security car, by obtaining its first victory. He repeats eight days later, while gaining, over the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, GP of the United States. After this second consecutive victory, it counts 10 points in advance on its Alonso fellow-member at the head of the championship. At the time of GP of France to Magny-Course, the McLaren are shown less powerful and Ferrari benefits from it to carry out its doubled first of the season. Hamilton draws however its pin from the play while finishing once again on the podium (3rd), still increasing its advance on its fellow-member who finishes in the 7th place. At the time of its national Grand Prix with Silverstone, he manages to tear off the pole position at the price of a very aggressive strategy which he pays the following day in race where he carries out one of his most unobtrusive services since the beginning of the season. He finishes all the same 3rd, taking down its ninth consecutive podium.
The July 21st, at the time of the last part of the qualifications of GP of Europe disputed on the Nürburgring, it is victim of a violent route exit caused by the bursting of a tire (probably following the bad fixing of the one of its wheels because of the failure of an air gun) in a fast curve and strikes of face a wall of tires. After being itself not easily extracted from its single-seater and paining to go, it is evacuated in the ambulance towards the medical center of the circuit then towards the hospital of Coblentz where the practiced examinations do not let appear any fracture or lesion. The following day, the medical delegates of the TRUSTED authorize it to take part in the race which it starts starting from the 10th place of the grid. Its excellent departure is quickly wasted by a consecutive puncture with a touchette then by an exit ramp at the time when a violent downpour falls down on the circuit. Of return in track thanks to the assistance of the police chiefs, it takes seat in back of the pack at the time of the second departure and loses any chance to appear well by fitting the dry tires too early. Its increase is completed in ninth position (for the first time of the season out of the points) what allows its Alonso fellow-member, victorious of the race, to return to only two lengths to the championship of the world.
According to experts, the deceleration undergone by the leader of the championship of the world at the time of its terrible crash landing of the qualifications of GP of Europe on the Nürburgring was of 29,8 G. With the question: “In what this accident did it disturb you? ”, Lewis Hamilton answered: “It did not disturb me. It is far from being the first and surely not the last! ”
The August 5th, with GP of Hungary, Lewis Hamilton springs pole position following the downgrading of its fellow-member Fernando Alonso retrogressed in sixth position (penalty of 5 places) following a behavior judged anti-sportsman at the time of the meeting of qualification. Hamilton gains the test in front of Räikkönen with which it remained with the neck and neck during all the race. It thus signs its third victory in F1 and then has 7 points in advance on Alonso and 20 on Räikkönen.
The August 26th, to GP of Turkey, Hamilton leaves the second place between the two Ferrari of Massa and Räikkönen. From the beginning, it is doubled by Räikkönen and finds third behind the Italian cars, places that it a long time will occupy even if it loses some tenths of a second to the turn on Massa with the wire of the race. With 16 turns of the goal, its tire before right bursts, whereas it rolls to 250 km/h: Hamilton manages to keep control of its single-seater and to rejoin the stands. Its stop makes him lose two places and it finds fifth, place which it preserves until the arrival, in spite of the return of Heikki Kovalainen. In Monza, it is described with some thousandth as Alonso in the 2nd place. In race, he does not manage to worry his fellow-member and finishes second. One week later, with Spa-Francorchamps, it qualifies and rejoins the arrival in the fourth place.
The September 30th, with GP of Japan to the Mount-Fuji, it carries out the pole position under the rain. Under the same conditions, it gains the race whereas its fellow-member gives up and it takes a serious option in the optics of the title: it carries out of twelve points whereas there remain only two Grand Prix.
But after having carried out the pole position with GP of China and to have carried out the first part of the race disputed with climatic conditions random, Lewis Hamilton is victim of a bad tactic consisting in remaining too a long time tracks some with tires used to the cord. Losing several second full with each turn, it is made exceed by Kimi Raikkonen before returning finally to the stands. But, in overspeed in the alley of the stands, it loses the control of its single-seater and is failed in a vat gravels of which it cannot set out again. After this abandonment, it preserves only four points in advance on its team-member Fernando Alonso and seven on the Finn Kimi Räikkönen, respectively second and victorious of the race.
Whereas it seemed to be in strong position to gain the title and after being qualified in second position, Lewis makes an error at the beginning of race at the time of a master key of weapons with her fellow-member during whom it makes a out-track, then loses many seconds following an electronic concern which temporarily leaves it with the idle (several media will quote after the race of the remarks of grateful Hamilton involuntarily to have caused this damage by carrying out a bad handling on its wheel, version contradicted a few hours later by the English pilot and its stable, which will endorse the responsibility for the incident). Relegated in back of the pack, then victim of a bad strategy of race, it loses a turn on Kimi Räikkönen and finishes with the seventh position. This result enables him to become vice-champion of the world behind Räikkönen but in front of its team-member Fernando Alonso, thanks to a higher number of second places.
