Let us park

Garons is a common French, located in the department of Gard and the area Languedoc-Roussillon.

Its inhabitants is called the Garonnais .

Geography

Located on the plate of Let us park, with 94 meters of Altitude, with 10 kilometers more in north.

Very close to the commune to Let us park is established a civil Aéroport (Aéroport of Nimes - Let us park) and a military air and sea base.

History

With the IIe front century J. - C., 2 villas Roman were established on the territory of Park.

In 635, the field of Let us park is allotted to the bishop Remissaire by the kings Visigoths who occupy the Septimanie. A text of the VIIe century mentions hamlet installed on the field.

With the XVIe century, during the fights between catholics and Protestant, the village remains as regards bishop of Nimes who elected residence there. Of this past, the common one preserved the Château bishop S, current town hall.

The French revolution, while making it possible to the peasants to recover the grounds of the church, supported the expansion of the hamlet.

October 19th, 1835 (Palate of Tileries), the hamlet of Let us park reaches the statute of commune by Royal decree.

During the XIXe century, the culture of the vine represents a very significant part of the agricultural activity.

The opening of the airport in 1958 renews the economy of the village and at the beginning of the Années 1960 strong immigration makes make a jump with the population of Park.

The main activity of the commune until the Années 1970 was the Agriculture with predominance of the Viticulture and the Verger S.

Currently, the city profits from the presence of the the airport and the air and sea base (which was a long time the 1st supplier of employment).

It also knew to attract some companies in connection with the Agriculture.
