Let us go to France

“ Allons in France ” (AEF) is a program created at the time of the Football world cup organized in 1998 in France, offering each year to the best French pupils of the whole world the possibility of going in France.

Since 1998, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs organizes a contest intended to develop the dies of formation to the French language and invites the prizes winner to discover various aspects of the French Culture. This program entitled “Let us go to France” aims at supporting the construction of the French-speaking identity of the students thus rewarded by the means of the exchanges, the debates and the meetings organized at the time of their stay in France. “Let us go to France”, whose mark was deposited, has today a true statute of program and constitutes a school contest of reference.

“Let us go to France” thus offers each year an unforgettable French-speaking stay to approximately 200 young people selected among the 40.000 participants in the contest in about fifty countries, old from 16 to 20 years. An action of international scale joining together on the French soil of the young people of nationalities and very diverse social origins.

“Let us go to France” declines itself in three stages:

national competitions of language and culture Frenchwomen organized by the services of Co-operation and Cultural activity of the Embassies of France in more than fifty countries around a federator topic suggested by the French Ministry of the Foreign affairs

selection of the prizes winner giving place to a national handing-over of price

stay of ten days in France with a dimension linguistic, cultural, sporting and festive organized around the topic selected, with ministerial reception, participation in prestigious events…

The participants of the program “Let us go to France” describe themselves as “AEFiens” (read aéfien).
