Leslie Feist

Leslie Feist (born the February 13rd 1976 in Amherst, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian auteure-singer . She occurs in solo under the name of Feist , and also groups some with the Broken Social Scene.

Having grown with Regina and Calgary, Feist begins the music as singer of a punk group named Placebo (which has nothing to do with its homonymous). They gain with a local springboard and gain the right to play in first part of a concert of the Ramones. After five years of a testing round, Feist is obliged to make a pause to recover its damaged voice. It settles with Toronto in 1998 and begins the Guitare; in 1999, it is the guitarist of the group By Divine Right . It starts to sing all alone and leaves its first album in solo the same year: Monarch (Lay Down Your Jeweled Head) . The album is financed by a subsidy of the Canadian government.

In 2000, Feist is joint tenant of Peaches and Gonzales, and it is invited to sing on The Teaches off Peaches . It joined then the sessions of recording of the albums of Broken Social Scene Feel Good Lost and You Forgot It in People . Then it settles with Paris. In Europe, she also collaborates with the Norwegian duet Kings off Convenience, invited to sing on their album Riot one year Empty Street . She also appears on the album Gone Gone Gone of the group The New Deal, in 2003.

Feist records its second album solo Let It Die in Paris in 2002 and 2003. This album is a mixture of Jazz, of Bossa nova and Indie rock'n'roll.

At the beginning of 2006, it records a new album, with Gonzales, Mocky, Jamie Lidell and Renaud Letang: Open Season , an album of remix and collaborations, left the April 18th 2006 to the Canada.

Individual the " Mushaboom" is used as band for publicities of the perfumes Lacoste. The title " 1234" album " The Reminder" is also used as band and video for publicities of new the nano iPod of Apple, Inc. (See it video)
