Leshan

Leshan (乐山; Pinyin: Lèshān) is a city of the province Sichuan in China.

The Great Buddha of Leshan, cut in the rock with hillside, is with its 71 m height largest of this type in the world. Jointly with the mount Emei, it was registered in 1996 on the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO.

Administrative divisions

The city-prefecture of Leshan exerts its jurisdiction on eleven subdivisions - four districts, a city-county, four counties and two autonomous counties  :
  • the district of Shizhong - 市中区 Shìzhōng Qū   ;
  • the district of Shawan - 沙湾区 Shāwān Qū   ;
  • the district of Wutongqiao - 五通桥区 Wǔtōngqiáo Qū   ;
  • the district of Jinkouhe - 金口河区 Jīnkǒuhé Qū   ;
  • the town of Emeishan - 峨眉山市 Éméishān Shì   ;
  • the county of Qianwei - 犍为县 Qiánwéi Xiàn   ;
  • the county of Jingyan - 井研县 Jǐngyán Xiàn   ;
  • the county of Jiajiang - 夹江县 Jiājiāng Xiàn   ;
  • the county of Muchuan - 沐川县 Mùchuān Xiàn   ;
  • the autonomous county yi of Ebian - 峨边彝族自治县 Ébiān yízú Zìzhìxiàn   ;
  • the autonomous county yi of Mabian - 马边彝族自治县 Mǎbiān yízú Zìzhìxiàn .
