Lerwick is the capital administrative and economic of the archipelago shetlandais (Scotland) located on the east coast, counting about 7000 inhabitants. Natural port good sheltered because of existence of the island of Bressay just opposite. There is a project of bridge to connect Bressay to Lerwick.
The name “Lerwick” is derived from old Norwegian and means “muddy bay”.
The old capital of the archipelago is Scalloway on the west coast.
Lerwick is famous for its Black gold of the North Sea.
