Leppävirta
Leppävirta is a municipality center-is Finland, in the area of Savonie of North. It counts approximately 11.000 inhabitants, the tendency being to a weak reduction.
Geography
The commune recovers a water and ground maze, in full heart of the area of the lakes. More the big lakes are the Suvasvesi, the Sorsavesi and the Unnukka. 25% of the total surface area are covered by water.The administrative center and principal village, crossed by main road 5, is located at 23 km of Varkaus and 51 km of the regional capital Kuopio.
The municipality is bordered by the communes of Suonenjoki in the west, Kuopio in north, Tuusniemi in the North-East and Varkaus in the south, but also by Heinävesi with the east and Pieksänmaa in south-west (both in Savonie of the South).
Economy
Tourism occupies an increasing place, with one of largest the hotel-spas of the country and 3.000 houses of holidays at the edge of many the lakes.But the common one has also an industrial calling, in particular with the forging mill Hackman at the village of Sorsakoski, pertaining to the group Iittala, and which manufactures in particular ustensils of Cuisine. 34% of the credits are employed in the Industrie, a clearly high rate compared to the farming communities of the area.
