Leonce II

Leonce II was the Favori of Justinien II. It took its place on the throne in 695 but was reversed by Tibère III in 698. When Justinien returned on the throne in 705, it made it assassinate in the prison where it was.
Originating in Isaurie, Leonce illustrates as general of the Byzantine Armée. Named Strategist of the topic of Anatolia by Constantin IV, it is sent by Justinien II in Georgia and Arab Arménie to push back the in 686. Its military successes, often marked by the use of cruel tactics, contributed to the renewal by the Caliph Abd Al-Malik of treaties favorable to Byzance.
He is imprisoned by Justinien II in 693 following a defeat. With its release, it will reverse Justinien II which it will exile with Chersonèsos. During his unpopular reign, Leonce will lose Carthage in 697, which will involve its disgrace in the Byzantine patriciat, which will replace it by Tibère III in 698.
