The professor Léonard Kleinrock (born in 1934) was the inventor of the principles of the packet switching, technology on which rests Internet, whereas it was student with the Massachusetts Institute off Technology (MIT). He developed the mathematical theory of the data networks.
This was held 10 years before the birth of the Internet, which was born only when the computer of the the University of California to Los Angeles (UCLA), on which professor Kleinrock worked, became about it the first node inter-connected in September 1969. It is him which wrote and published the first document on the subject; it also directed the transmission of the first message on the Internet. He is also the person in charge of the implementation of the first means of measurement of the Internet which made it possible to establish the limits of performance of them and to evaluate the behavior in load of it. He was indicated by the Los Angeles Times , in 1999, among the 50 people having more influenced the business world during the century.
Professor Kleinrock is member of American Academy off Arts and Sciences, of the Academy National off Engineering, the IEEE and the ACM and founding member of the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board off the National Research Council.
