Leonard Borwick

Leonard Borwick (* Walthamstow close to London, February 26th 1868 - † Mans, the Sarthe, September 15th 1925), is a British Pianiste .

Biography

Leonard Borwick works the piano with Clara Schumann, of 1883 to 1889, with Frankfurt, in Germany. He makes his beginnings in this city, in 1889. He returns then to England, then carries out a series of triumphal rounds in France, in Germany, and in all Europe (in particular in Scandinavia). In 1911, he undertakes a great round in America and Australia. Whereas a long time its vast repertory covers the period of Jean-Sebastien Bach until Johannes Brahms (with a certain predilection for the music of Robert Schumann), it is interested in the end of its life to the French music of its time (Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel). It carried out a transcription for piano of the Prélude to the afternoon of a fauna of Debussy.
