Leon Zack

Leon Zack is a Russian painter , born in 1892 with Nijni-Novgorod and died in Paris in 1980.

Biography

It began its career in Russia, where it follows the courses of Jakimchenko. It exposes for the first time in 1907 to the Living room of the Federation of the Muscovite Painters, while continuing studies of letters to the faculty of Moscow. It leaves Russia in 1920 for Italy, then takes refuge in France.

In 1977 in Paris a retrospective of its work took place, with the museum of modern art.

Style

Leon Zack was an artist Figuratif until 1946, especially painting portraits in the vein of the pink period of Picasso. Little by little, its brush is made expressionist. The faces are underlined by black features torturing contours. It turns then to the abstraction, initially with the knife, then by large washings where remain only of nodosities.
