Leon Troclet

Leon Troclet (1872 - 1946) adhered very quickly to the federalistic ideas without betraying or giving up its socialist combat. He fights for the Wallonia and the working world. It is him which launches Wallonia , body of the inhabitant of Li2ege federation of the POB. The publication saw only ten days, but precedes the newspaper which will be during tens of years that of FGTB of Liege.

For him the administrative separation (federalism), would be a chance as well for the Walloons as the Flemings. He deplores excesses of the Flemish Movement which he respects and gives in example of excess the nominations in Liege of Flemish magistrates.

He takes part in the creation of the Walloon Assemblée the October 20th 1912. He one of is delegated Neufchâteau - Virton (in which he is originating), (1912 - 1914, 1919 - 1940) and member of his permanent office (1925 -1940). In 1913, it proposes dated October 20th like feastday of Wallonia in order to commemorate the foundation of the Walloon Parliament. It also takes part in the congress of the Walloon Ligue of Liege in 1913 and presents to it a moderate federalistic project with the recognition of three areas, the Flanders, Wallonia and the agglomeration of Brussels with in certain cases an absolute autonomy for the areas.

After the war, it writes a federalistic reform project of the Belgian State. He was appointed of 1900 at 1946, alderman of Liege in 1933. He takes part after the war in the Walloon National congress of 1945.

It is the father of Leon-Eli Troclet.
