Leon Schlumpf is a Swiss politician, born the February 3rd 1925 in Felsberg (Grisons). It was federal adviser of 1980 with 1987, member of the democratic Union of the center.

Studies and career

  • It studies the right to the Université of Zurich.
  • He is lawyer with the bar of Coire of 1961 to 1965.

To advise State of the Grisons

  • It is elected with the Council of State Canton of the Grisons in 1966 and directs during eight years the department of the Interior and the public Economy.
  • In 1966, it is elected like candidate of the democratic party to the National council, then is elected like UDC with the Conseil of the States.

Federal adviser

  • on December 5th, 1979, it is elected with the Federal council.
  • It directs the department of Transport, the Communications and Energy from January 1st, 1980 to December 31st, 1987.
  • It is President of the Swiss Confederation in 1984.
