Leon Lederman

Leon max Lederman (born in 1922) is a American Physicien, Nobel Prize of physics in 1988 for its work on the neutrinos.

Biography

Leon Lederman was born the July 13rd 1922 with New York. He studies in City College of New York until 1943, he joined the American army then. After the war, in 1946, it resumes its studies with the Université Columbia where it supports its thesis of doctorate in 1951. He becomes professor in 1958, then directs the laboratory of the Columbia university of 1961 to at 1978. He works during this time with his colleagues Melvin Schwartz and Jack Steinberger on a method of detection of the Neutrino S, which will lead them to the Nobel Prize. In 1977, he discovers the Quark bottom. In 1979, it is named director of the Fermilab, then joined the Université of Chicago in 1989. It creates in 1995 a scientific educational center in Fermilab.
