Leon Jozeau-Marigné
Leon Jozeau-Marigné , born the July 21st 1909 with Angers in the Maine-et-Loire and deceased the July 18th 2003, was a French politician.
Biography
Wire of a civil servant from the Stations in Angers, it obtains a doctorate in right to the catholic Université of Angers, then settles with Avranches as solicitor in 1935.It enters to the municipal council of Avranches during the Second world war, but resigns in 1943, refusing compromising with the German authorities. In 1948, it is elected senator under the label of the Union of the Republicans and Independent the, mandate which it will keep until 1983. With the Upper House, he is president of the commission of the rebuilding of the Conseil of the Republic then, after the re-establishment of the Sénat, is named vice-president between 1962 and 1965, and chair the commission of the Laws between 1971 and 1983.
Locally, it is essential in the canton of Avranches as general adviser in 1951 and mayor of the chief town in 1953, then becomes little by little the strong man of the department of the Manche, by chairing the general advice during 20 years, as from 1968, and the District council of Basse-Normandie during 5 years.
Alain Poher, president of the Senate, names it for 9 years with the constitutional council in 1983, obliging it to give up its mandates, except for the presidency of the department, which it loses in 1988 with the profit of Pierre Aguiton, following its defeat against the socialist candidate in his canton. At the end of its mandate at the Constitutional council, it is named honorary member of the Parliament.
He was also member of the High council of town and country planning in 1957, and regular judge with the High Court of justice in 1968.
