Its Work
In 1882, he discovers the work of the painter naturalist French Jules Bastien Lepage with the living room of Brussels. Its art is the odd alliance of a naturalism manner with the naivety and the luxuriance of the Quattrocento and the Primitifs Flemish, often carried out in the form of Triptyque S.
The painter of the Marchands of chalk reports with a touching poetry the faces, those of small especially in their apprehensive timidity; One with the famous person, the stupid air, limited, another ladle terribly, they all are despite everything, even these two there: charming. It is the poetry of misery, resignation, the quiet duty, courage. Certain tables take the form of esoteric allegories like: the Interior of workshop of 1882, with the Museum of Ixelles. He announces certain surrealist topics: right shutter of the triptych the Water , the Stagnant water .
