Leon-François Hoffmann

Leon-François Hoffmann is a writer, specialist in the literature and culture of Haiti.

After studies with the University of Yale, Leon-François Hoffman obtains a Ph.D. in 1959 and becomes teaching with the Université of Princeton the following year.

He publishes initially handbooks of French, like the Essence of French grammar and French in French , before devoting to the history of the romantic literature in France, in particular supervising the edition of the novel Georges , Alexandre Dumas father, and of the play All Saints' day Louverture , Alphonse of Lamartine.

Professor of literatures Frenchwoman and Haitian, Leon-François Hoffman quickly asserted himself like a specialist in the Haitian culture and literature. Its most famous work, the romantic Negro , was crowned by the French Academy. In 2003, Leon-François Hoffmann coordinated the edition of complete Works of Rumanian Jacques.
