Lentiens
The Lentiens (in German: Lentienser , in Latin: Lentienses ) was Germanic people in the area between the river of the the Danube in north, the Iller in the west and the Lac of Constancy in the south, in what today is the Germany. They proved to be the most rebellious people at that time. They had there only two mentions of Lentiens, both made by the Roman Historian Am Marcellin (330 – 395).
Initially they apparaissèrent in the year 355 when the Roman commander Arbetio was ordered by the emperor Constance II to condemn by a fine Lentiens for several riots against the Roman Empire. Then, they were mentioned in 378 when they crossed the the cold Rhine, invading the Roman Empire. They were demolishes by the Roman Emperor Gratien during the battle of Argentovaria (currently Colmar in Alsace), to which them king, Priarius mourru. This battle was the last countryside of any Roman Emperor behind the Limes. It was as the last time as the name of Lentiens was mentioned in the historical documents.
The Latin name " Lentienes" was formed of the name of the Celtic village Lentia. Aujourd' huiune area of the north of the lake of Constancy is called Linzgau.
