Leningrad (Лениинград) is a group of Ska-rock'n'roll of St Petersbourg (Russia, in the past Leningrad), beginning of the Années 1990.
Composed of 11 musicians brought together around the leader Sergueï Shnurov (СергейШнуров), it is known in Russia for its vulgar texts in slang (Chechmate) fleurant the vodka with pepper , according to the principle “sex, drugs and punk-rock'n'roll” inspired by groups of the Années 1980 like Nol. A description, rather summary is, was to compare the appearance of the group on the Russian music scene on arrival of the Sex Pistols on the English scene . During a few years, the group was been sulky by the chains of radio or Télévision, or then censured. (For certain songs, that could cause more beeps than of text.) But this really does not harm the popularity of the group. Shnurov went even until animating one evening of New year on television Russian.
Following success of group, Sergueï Shnurov created group “3 debila”, which is actually a reduced version of Leningrad, accompanied by Sveta Kolibaba, in which he sang the songs not accepted by the principal formation, because generally considered to be “too vulgar”! But the group lasted only the time of an album, “Made In Zhopa”, and the public to notice which hid dérière the new group.
Several members of the group follow parallel careers in other groups, such Grigorij Zontov in the group of Ska - Punk Spitfire.
