Lendava
Lendava , formerly Donja Lendava , (Hungarian German Alsólendva , Lindau , formerly Unter Limbach , Croatian Lendva , formerly Lendva Dolnja ) is a Slovenien small town just at the border of the Hungary and Croatia. The traditional area of Lendava is called the Prekmurje; its statistical area is the Pomurska and its natural area is the plain pannonienne.
Its name comes from Slavic the lendava which means fallow or ambrosia . The river which also sprinkles it door this nom.
The opening of a railway of Zalaegerszeg to Čakovec via Lendava coincided with a phase of industrialization. But, following the Treated of Trianon, Lendava was annexed to the Royaume of Serb, Croatian and Slovenien the. Deprived of relations with the remainder of the County of Zala which had remained Hungarian (the railway being closed at the border) and very offset in its new State, the city knew a phase of decline then. It was again annexed to the Hungary of 1941 with 1945. After the Second world war, the assimilation of the Hungarian population accelerated. In the independent Slovenia, the Hungarian minority is now protected and Lendava/Lendva is a bilingual commune whose Hungarians form more of the third of the total population.
