The province of Lenclume (or " Hammerfell"), like its inhabitants, Rougegardes, seem relatively strange with the eyes of the other human ones of the Empire. Lenclume is located on the west coast of the Empire of Tamriel, and its northern coast (where Sentinelle is, the capital) form with that of Hauteroche the Bay of Illiac.

Three approximately thousand years before the reign of Tiber Septim, a continent of the name of Yokuda, in the West of Tamriel, was the theater of upheavals of grounds, volcanic eruptions, floods and finally of an almost total immersion, which brought most of the human people which lived there to emigrate.

Its inhabitants were established in two phases in what was going to become Lenclume. The majority settled temporarily in an island with broad, with in particular the family members reigning, Na-Totambu, while a small army unloaded on the continent and started to cut a place between the small kingdoms which existed at that time. These warriors were Ra-Gada. They had early made sweep local resistances. The whole of their people joined them then. The newcomers, whose techniques of agriculture and warlike exceeded those of the natives by far (small Nedic kinglets, or tribes semi-man, semi-animal like Argoniens), supplanted them without difficulty, while assimilating part of their culture, religion and language mainly.

Quickly two distinct leading castes coexisted: Na-Totambu, the original elite, which was incorporated easily in the strongly hierarchical structure of the nobility of the Empire of Cyrodiil, and the Ra-Gada, which constituted the basic nobility. Ra-Gada named Forebears, since they had been the first of their people to take foot on Tamriel.

Besides they took more and more importance, so much so that the High-King of Yokudéens came from there to move its capital of its initial place, the Hégathe Old woman, towards a city held by Forebears, Sentinelle, which with the passing of years had become a powerful commercial center.

Thassad II, one of these High-Kings, was reversed by a revolution fomented by Forebears, who reflect fine at the same time at several centuries of domination of Na-Totambu.
