Lemmy Kilmister
Ian Fraiser Kilmister known as Lemmy Kilmister (born on December 24th 1945, with the Stoke-one-Trent, Staffordshire, England) is a Bassiste and Chanteur of heavy metal. He is the founding member and leader of the group Motörhead. Its serious voice, its rock'n'roll attitude and its insubmersibility make of him a character worship in the universe of the music. It appeared sometimes under the name of Ian Willis.
Lemmy passed its youth on the island of Anglesey, Wales.
He plays primarily on low 4 cords Rickenbacker.
Childhood
Lemmy was born has Burslem the Stoke-one-Trent, England, and high has Anglesey in the north of the Wales. His/her father, an ecclesiastic, left the family when Lemmy had three months. Its nickname, without precise significance, was given by his/her Welsh friends being young.
Beginning of career
Lemmy spent the Sixties as guitarist in many obscure groups (such as: Rainmakers, Motown Sect, Opal Butterfly, Sam Gopal, and The Rockin' Vickers) and also as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix in 1967, and The Nice, where it gave to Keith Emerson his famous " couteau".In 1971, Kilmister joined the group of Space rock'n'roll, Hawkwind, which were based has Ladbroke Grove, London. It had little experiment as bass player, but quickly it developed a distinctive style strongly influenced by its past of rhythmic guitarist. It also appeared with the song in many songs of the group, including their larger hit with the chart individual the U.K., " Silver Machine" , which arrived #3 in 1973.
Motörhead
In 1975, Lemmy is made return of Hawkwind, after being made stop at the Canadian border for facts of possession of amphetamines; it spent 5 days in prison. Kilmister decided to form a new group with the guitarist Larry Wallis (founding member of Pink Fairies, Steve Took' S Shagrat and UFO.), like with the beater Lucas Fox. The bond with Steve Took was not only related to Larry Wallis, because they were friendly and Took was the father-in-law of the son of Lemmy, Paul. This new group was called at the " beginning; Bastard". When the manager of the group informed Lemmy that a group whose name wanted to say " enfoiré" was never going to pass to " Signal off the Pops " , Kilmister changed the name and named the group Motörhead, the title of the last song that Lemmy wrote for Hawkwind.
Little time afterwards, Wallis and Fox were replaced by the guitarist " Fast" Eddie Clarke and the beater Phil " Philthy Animal" Taylor, it was the beginning of the success of the group. The sound of the group rained with the fans of heavy metal, but also with the fans of being born Punk rock'n'roll. Later, Lemmy affirmed that it felt more at ease with the punk one than with the heavy metal. He played even some shows with The Damned, when the bass player of this group, Captain Sensible, decided to take the role of guitarist in 1978. The voice gutturale of Lemmy was single in the world of the rock'n'roll at that time.
The success of the group went up out of arrow between 1980 and 1981 with many individual present to the U.K. Chart Hits, including traditional the Ace off Spades (always one of the favorite songs of the fans) and the album live No Sleep 'til Hammersmith, which will become #1. Motörhead became one of the most influential groups in the movement heavy metal. Although being the only member of the original group, Lemmy always does as many shows and still produces albums nowadays (the last being " KIS off Death" , left in 2006.). Following multiple changes of line-up, the current group composed of Lemmy, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee is always the same one since 1995.
Lemmy also worked with many other musicians during his career. It took part in the writing of the album No More Tears with Ozzy Osbourne, writing the words of the pieces " Hellraiser", " Desire", " I don' T want to Change the World" and largest hit " Mama I' m coming Home". Lemmy acknowledged then in several magazines which it gained more money thanks to the royalties of this piece than with the songs written with Motörhead.
Lemmy created the topic of entry of the all-in wrestler pro Triple H of WWE entitled " The Game". (this bearing last besides same cut of barb as Lemmy) like " Line in the Sand" , for the alliance of wrestling of WWE, " Evolution". In 2006, Motörhead and Triple H give that while creating the song " King off Kings".
Lemmy also worked with the leader of the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, on its " project; Pobot " where he exploits several pieces of the album.
