Lembeye was the political, commercial capital and nun of Vic-Bilh (
Vicus Vetullus i.e.: old country, old region). A consensus emerged on the etymology from the name, to make a " of it; place located well which causes the desire ". Mentioned in
1286 under the Latin name d
' Invidia by Gaston VII, of many sayings exploits the word
the enveja which means " the envie" in
Occitan; Lembeye is the French transcription of the pronunciation béarnaise.
It is about a country house appeared as of the 11th century which was directly under the orders of the Viscount. Later associated a laic abbot who was the baron de Samsons. With, Lembeye was the 6th city of the
Béarn.
This borough had to suffer on several occasions from disorders and invasions, but in fact the religious disorders to more will harm him. Lembeye, Protestant city, are devastated in
1569; plundered and burned partly by the troops of the captain of
Catherine de Médicis: terrible Terride, with the head of the French army catholic, which involved the decline of the beautiful city.

The sports association most important of Lembeye is the Sporting Star of Lembeye in Vic-Bilh. It gathers actually four sports which are Rugby, the tennis shoe, the Basque ball and cycling. Associations gathering the most members are of course the tennis shoe and Rugby.
The ESL makes party of the committee of the Béarn, plus small committee of France by the size, and evolves/moves within the Championship of France of Fédérale 3 (Western Southern sector).
