The Captain Lelièvre , born in Malesherbes, was initially warrant officer with the 15th regiment of line. After the Revolution of July, it leaves for the Algérie and in 1832 is lieutenant in a battalion of light Infanterie. Each one of its ranks are to be put in connection with a brilliant deed; it is in 1840 that it is named Capitaine following the attack of Darnassar.
Assisted of one hundred twenty three men, it was charged to defend the village of Mazagran; a pemière battle took place on December 15th, 1839 without the adversaries being able to take the position. February 2nd, 1840 begins a new offensive but a hundred and twenty three men hold good whereas vis-a-vis them more than ten thousand men want to take the fort. Finally their obstinacy is rewarded the attackers raise the seat.
Little time after the battle, it left the service and died in 1851.
