Leixlip
Leixlip ( Léim year Bhradáin in Irish) is a city of the Comté of Kildare in Irish Republic.
It is located in the suburbs of Dublin, in the North-East of the County.
Important industrial center (technological industries of Intel and Hewlett-Packard), the city, with its 16.000 inhabitants, also has many commuters in Dublin, because of the proximity of city (17 km). It is located on the rivers of the Liffey of Rye, and the Royal Channel, a channel between the harbor (port) of Dublin and the Shannon.
The city was founded by the Viking S and became important with the Middle Ages when the Normands built a castle on banks of Liffey. In 1750, Arthur Guinness created the first brewery Guinness in the main street. Intel installed there its factory in 1990, which counts 5.000 employees today.
Leixlip is a twin town with Bressuire, France, and Niles, the United States.
