Around work
Dennis Lehane is first of all the author of a city, Boston, tallies permanent of the intrigues of its novels except notable for Shutter island . These the first five novels, of last glass before the war until Prières for the rain put in scene a tandem of private detectives, Kenzie & Gennaro which maintain a friendly relation in love as tender as surging. To perfection of particularly black intrigues which reflect the hardness of an American big city today, Lehane often opposes the lightness of a very ironic style of writing. Its topic of predilection remaining maltreated childhood, after-effect of its old activity of teacher near problem childs from which it draws accents of truth which give all their broadth, and their importance, with his books. The fourth opus of the Kenzie-Gennaro series, Gone baby, gone , reached for this reason dramatic tops of intensity seldom reached in the contemporary whodunnit.
Mystic to rivet will become its most famous novel following excellent and very faithful adaptation that will make Clint Eastwood of it, and even if one can, a posteriori , to reproach the book some lengths in its outcome, as well as a certain disproportion in the pathos (to which the history, terrible, lends itself admirably), it remains a model of construction and gives the full measurement of the power of this author that much considered, as of its first book, like a future (very) large of the black novel.
For proof its last book, less better accommodated in the United States than its precedents, which operates an unexpected turn and of a beautiful virtuosity around a kind of mystery of closed room… on a penitentiary island for insane criminals from which insane a matricide escapes. Located in the Fifties, Shutter island is, for certain, a pure masterpiece, a literary model of know-how as much as an astonishing parabola on schizophrenia; for others: a literary hoax.
