Legion Condor

The Légion Condor was an air force formed starting from manpower of the Luftwaffe of the Nazi Germany, which fought in Spain during the civil war between January 1937 and April 1939.

It was sent by Adolf Hitler in order to help the forces of Franco which had been raised against the II Spanish Republic.
6  000 committed men will be raised regularly, 16  000 will have been useful, among which many officers who will become famous at the time of the Second world war, like the general Hugo Sperrle or the pilot Adolf Galland.

The Legion Condor is responsible for the bombardment of the town of Guernica in Spain, considered as the first raid of the history of the modern aviation of war on the civil population without defense, the motivations are always object of controversy.
