Leffe is Dining popular quarters of which could be regarded as an autonomous village inside the city insofar as concentrated there in first half of the twentieth century in particular of the textile factories.

It is there that is installed the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Leffe (order of Prémontrés) which gives its name to universally known beer, the “Leffe”. August 23rd, 1914, at the time of the Dining bag of , the German imperial army shot 147 workmen of the public limit company " Manufacture of Tissus" , old Firm Albert Oudin and Co, like its director Mister Remy Himmer.

It is at the level of the district of Leffe that the general Rommel made pass the Meuse to a first armoured tank to the evening of May 13rd, 1940, this day which saw taking shape the defeat of France.

Enough curiously, the Town of Dining account to the extreme opposite on its agglomeration another district-village, that of Neffe which undergoes very seriously, like its almost homonymous, violences of the German armies on August 23rd, 1914 and whose Hone and Kramer described in detail nature, the origins and their place in the historical long life in their book recently translated into French, the German Atrocités .

The Fonds of Leffe is also the name of the brook which below throws in the Meuse the abbey.
