In its albums as a leader, he played with the largest musicians of Hard bop: Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson or Jackie MacLean with the saxophone; Bobby Tillers or McCoy Tyner with the piano; Art Blakey with the battery… Its style is very characteristic of its Blue Note the Sixties: a quintet in general made up of a trumpet, a saxophone tenor (more rarely viola or baritone), of a piano, a double bass and a battery; a sound funky, a style Drunk jazz. Under many aspects, Lee Morgan represents the type even of the musician hardware bop of the Sixties.
