Lecumberry

Lecumberry is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.

Its name Basque is Lekunberri .

Geography

The common one belongs to the Pays of Cize.
Its grounds are sprinkled by the Irati, affluent of the Aragon and by the Laurhibar affluent of the Nive.

; The cave of Mikelauensilo (0,1 ha) This cave one of rare is inhabited by bald people-souris.
It is composed of 2 rooms: one which can shelter 200 ewes, the other smaller accessible by a small opening to the bottom of the part principale.
A tunnel which also leaves the principal part makes it possible to arise in mountain 80 to 100 m more bas.
The path which carries out share of the Laharrakia house to it.
The history says that one day of the smugglers of the corner had in authority of " passage" 200 ewes hidden in this cave. The customs officers knew their existence but not the place. The smugglers all went to the market of Saint-Jean-Foot-of-Port and had fun the festival with the customs officers, while the girls of the village passed the brebis.
It is one of the sites of the regional academy of natural spaces of the Pyrenees.
