Learjet is an aeronautical manufacturer specialized in the construction of small apparatuses of businesses. He was repurchased by the Canadian Bombardier, in 1990.
In 1959, William P. Lear founds in Switzerland the Swiss American Aviation Corporation . She moves in 1962 with Wichita (Kansas, the USA) to develop the manufacture of jets with private use, and will be re-elected in 1963 “Lear Jet Corporation”.
The first model was LearJet 23 Continentals, based on the structure of a Swiss jet, the AFA P-16.
In 1978, the astronaut Neil Armstrong establishes several records of altitude with Learjet Modèle 28.
The company Gates Learjet was repurchased by Bombardier in 1990.
Learjet 60 is born in 1993 succeeding model 55 from 1979, and Learjet 45 in 1995.
