Leandro Fernández de Moratín (Madrid, March 10th 1760 - June 2nd 1828), Poet and Spanish Playwright .
Biography
He was born with Madrid in 1760. His/her father was the writer and lawyer Nicolás Fernández de Moratín and his mother Isidora Cabo Conde. At four years, it was sick Variole, which turned sour its character, making it asocial and timid. It did not make academic works, and started to work like employee in a jewelry. At twenty years, it is madly in love with Sabina Conti, a fifteen year old girl, which one obliged to marry by suitability with an uncle who had the double of his age. This experiment obsessed Moratín, which took it again several times in its work.On the political plan, Leandro Fernández de Moratín belonged to the " Afrancesado s", these Spanish intellectuals believing in the regenerating mission of Joseph I. Leandro Fernández de Moratín hoped to build a society based on the " reason, justice and the pouvoir". Feeling threatened by the patriotic Spanish revolted against the troops of Napoleon, it had come to take refuge in the castle of Peñiscola held by French. Work
As author, he wrote as many serious works (Ode S, reduced S, Lettre S) that satirists, but it is with the theater that he obtained his greater successes. Its most known production is El sí of mow niñas . In this one Moratín deals with problem well its time: that of the marriages of convenience, which many parents imposed on their children. The argument is the following:
The young person doña Francisca (Paquita), which was educated in a convent of sisters of Guadalajara, is intended by his mother, doña Irene, to marry the old gift Diego. The young person, on his side, is in love with gift Carlos, a soldier who is the nephew of gift Diego. The action occurs in an inn from Alcalá de Henares where gift Carlos runs to prevent the wedding of its beloved without knowing that she is promised of her own uncle. When it succeeds in knowing the project of this one, gift Carlos gives up his love, but gift Diego understands that the young people like and it is him which liberally is sacrificed, blessing the union of doña Francisca and gift Carlos, against the wishes of authoritative the doña Irene.
As one can have a presentiment of it in this summary, the comedy yields with the neo-classic rule of the three units: work contains only one history (unit of action), which proceeds in a single place and in only one day (unit of time).
